Introduction: Jeff Kravetz

Hello all, my name is Jeff Kravetz and I am from Brunswick, Ohio, which is located twenty minutes South of Cleveland.  Being from the Cleveland area I am not embarrassed to be a Browns, Indians or a Cavs fan over the years because I truly believe their time will come sooner or later.  I am also an Ohio State fan and would have gone there had I not been here at Bowling Green but am also thinking of going there for graduate school in the future.
During my high school years, I played many sports and loved every minute of it.  I played varsity soccer as a striker all four years and was captain my junior and senior year.  I was also the kicker for the varsity football team for three years and humbly hold four school records.  I also ran varsity track my freshman and sophomore year and also played freshman basketball.  Soccer is my forte because I have played every year since I was four years old.  I am currently playing for BGSU’s club soccer team and serve as the trip advisor for the team as well.
The female I would like to see compete the most is Alex Morgan, striker for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team.  Alex is an up-and-coming star that attracts many fans since her recent standout performances during the last World Cup and Olympics.  Not only is she becoming one of the best strikers in women’s soccer, but I also find her very attractive.  It is good to see a female athlete like Alex Morgan who is scoring goals and attracting crowds since Mia Hamm played.
The male athlete I would like to see compete is Robin Van Persie, or RVP, striker for Manchester United’s football (soccer) team.  RVP is a goal-scoring machine as he is currently leading the English Premier League (European soccer league) in goals.  His ability to score combined with his speed, mentality and knowledge of the game is the type of game I wish to play whenever I step onto the field.  I also want to see a European game at least once in my life and would be the man and team to watch.
I do not have any concerns about any of the subjects we will be talking.  I will actually be looking forward to everyone’s opinions and how the discussions will turn out.

  1. Hi Jeff,

This is a very good introduction. I did not remember that your forte was soccer but I look forward to hearing your views about soccer when we discuss it in class. I clearly remember the goal that Alex Morgan scored in the game against Canada. That was an exciting game. I am not familiar with Robin Van Persie, although I know how big Manchester United is - I read that the franchise is even bigger than the Yankees! For some reason, when I clicked on his name, Alex Morgan came up for both clips. I'm not sure if you knew that.

I was also glad to read that you are not ashamed to say that you are a fan of the Cleveland sports teams. I wondered what you thought about the recent hiring of Rob Chudzinski? I know he had some success with DA in 2006 and will be interested to see how he does with the team.

Thanks for making the first entry on the blog and I look forward to reading your future entries!!

  2. Hi Jeff,

It is nice to talk to a fellow Cleveland fan after I have lived in Michigan for the last eight years. As much as I hate to say it but I think we are looking at later rather than sooner as far as starting to be good though.

Also, I am a huge follower of the women's international soccer team as well. I am a huge fan of Alex Morgan as well she is just an incredibly exciting player to watch. I think with upcoming stars like her women's soccer is going to become more and more popular.

  3. Jeff,

I can see why you choose RVP, as a player that you want to see. He is in a sport you love and has the same postition as yourself. Do you try to model yourself after his style or another player or come up with one on your own.

I also see that you are a Man U fan, and I can't stand them. No I'm not a fan of Man City, Arsenal or any of the other English teams. I'm a fan of Juventus in Italy, and don't ask why because I have been sort of drawn to them over the years. Go Juve!
