I’m Jeremy Shay and I am from Garden City, Michigan which is
about 20 minutes west of Detroit. Being from the Detroit around I am a fan of
all of the Detroit teams including the tigers, lions, pistons, and the red
wings. With the tigers being my favorite team considering baseball is my
favorite sport as well.
In high school I played two sports, football and baseball. I
played both sports all four years at the varsity level. The biggest achievement
that I had in my high school sports was winning two state championships during
my sophomore and senior seasons for baseball. I will never forget those
memories that we had during those seasons especially my senior year being that
was my last game of my high school career. Here at Bowling Green I am currently
on the baseball team.
The female athlete that I would like to see compete is Alex
Morgan. I think that Alex is a very good athlete that plays the game the right
way. She is competitive, she is willing to do anything for her team to win and
is a very good teammate. She is always playing the game hard and giving
everything that she has every time she goes out there and plays. Her teammates
say that she is one of the hardest working girls on the team whether it is at
practice or the games. I think that is
very important not only to get herself better but because she is doing that she
is making everyone around her better as a player and a team.
The male athlete that I would like to see compete is Derek
Jeter. Derek Jeter is probably one of the best overall baseball players today. He
does a lot for his team whether he is having a good game or a bad game. He has
been the captain of the Yankees for a reason and they know what they are doing
with naming him the captain. He is the leader of that team and makes them go
with how he acts on the field during the games. Every time he goes out and
plays you as the coach or the fans know that he is going to do everything that
he can to help the team win. He goes out on the field and plays with all he
has, he doesn’t leave anything on the field at the end of the game. He is
always trying to get better at what he does too. At his age of 38, this past
season he led the major leagues in hits throughout the season after having a
bad year the previous year and everyone thought that he was going to be done
with baseball.
I do not have any issues with the topics that will be
discussed this semester.
Hi Jeremy,
ReplyDeleteThat must have been awesome to win two state championships in baseball. While I am not a big fan of the Yankees (an understatement), I can certainly respect all that Derek Jeter has accomplished. At a time when he could have been an afterthought, he performed so well this past year. It is hard to believe he is 38 years old. He seems to be the antithesis of A-Rod. I can also relate to your wanting to see Alex Morgan. She seems to be a popular choice in this class, but I can understand why - especially after the team's performance in the Summer Olympics.
This is an interesting Introduction, but be sure to proofread. Remember what Kara said about capitalizing proper nouns. I look forward to reading more of your entries.
