Introduction: Erin Scott

My name is Erin Scott. I am currently a junior at BG. I am from Pocatello, Idaho. I decided to come to school in Ohio because there really are not a whole lot of opportunities in sports in Idaho. Growing up I played a wide variety of different sports. In high school I limited it to just soccer. At BG I play intramural flag football (which our team won the championship this year) and soccer.

The female athlete that I would be most interested in seeing play would be Mia Hamm. Mia Hamm was an absolutely amazing athlete. She received many awards during her career and last year she was named the #1 female athlete in the last 40 years. Being a soccer player, I am thankful for Mia Hamm for bring women’s soccer into the spotlight. She really did a lot for the sport and was an inspiring role model for young female athletes.  The male athlete that I am interested in watching is Kellen Moore. I am a Boise State fan and was a big fan of Kellen Moore when he played for Boise. He was a leader on and off the field. I believe he helped Boise State get recognized. For a male athlete that has made his name with a professional career, I would love to watch Michael Jordan play. Although I am not a huge basketball fan, Michael Jordan is a legend and having the opportunity to watch him play would be a truly amazing experience.

As for concerns about taking this class, I really do not have any. I think that this will be an interesting course to take.

  1. Hi Erin,

I don't think we have too many students from Pocatello, Idaho, so welcome to the class. I hope you are pleased with your decision to come to BG! I can definitely understand why you would like to see Mia Hamm. Thanks for sharing this video clip. It looks like one that might relate to future topics we will be discussing in class. I agree that she is an outstanding role model for youth in sport. Since you mentioned the Boise State QB, I wondered if you saw when BG played them a few years ago? I don't think we did too well, so it may not have left a great impression. You are right about your assessment of Michael Jordan. I got to see him play twice and I wish I could have seen him play more.

I look forward to reading more of your entries.

    Dr. Spencer
